It is the Ambassador pin that was worn from 1971 to 1996. In 1996, this pin was changed to (PinPics #13834), which was then first worn in 1997 and continues to this day. It features a gold Mickey Head in the center and a golden D, the bottom of the pin has a banner that reads Ambassador. The Walt Disney World Ambassador Team represents the heritage and legacy of Disney and the friendly, diverse spirit of Cast Members. They share the Disney traditions with other Cast Members and the world. The reverse of this all-gold version reads, “(c) Walt Disney Productions;” the bottom of the D reads W. Meyer, Inc New York. There was also a version where the Mickey head was silver, rather than gold. It is believed that version may be the older of the 2, but that is unsubstantiated. On the image of the reverse of the pin the bottom piece is soldered on to the upper “D” part. This is done during the manufacturing process.
